"Beauty is a daily battle fought in our hearts"
We forget we are a global village today
We forget we have seen two terrible world wars and more
We forget we all came from and shall return to the same source
We forget that society is the individual and the individual is the society
We forget that art is art and life is life
We forget to remember and hence must remember to forget it all
We forget to love to laugh and to cry
We forget to live and to die
…. and fly
In 2007 I began to experience life with Parkinson’s Disease. My work shifted somewhat in response to a malfunctioning of the body and in response to the illness and became "performances of the sick body”. I shall make actions in between songs and sound work. Each time my personal experiences are material to begin with that i expand towards a social if not spiritual level of consciousness. They are the foundation of an inner search so that our conflicts and tensions may reclaim the freedom and peace, redemption and reconciliation as it was meant to be. In revisits i do not re-enact but rather make new and accentuate the “NOW-ness” of the life all of us are in and the odds by that we still pitch our call for justice and dignity in a world that forgot by over emphasis of future as a goal yet neglecting our history and the present predicament which is hardly a closed end of the road, arriving in a paradise utopia, that some tend to make us believe.
Songs:-
Down the Road
1
Desperation pleads a helping hand
Some light to show direction in a dark land
Beauty is a battle fought in our hearts
A daily war a struggle forever more
Down the road
By the river
Under ground town
2
Changing, rolling endless bouts
Dance of life flings in about
Time is ruthless don’t go astray
Before Yesterday’s tomorrow became today
Food for fare tales gay or sad
Feat fated to fail
3
Watch your changing state of mind
Keep your faith but don’t go blind
Chance in time
Date to dime
Destiny Fate or Sign
4
I took liberty to go against the plans
I got free but then I lost the way again
The heart of solitude and peace
And now that’s gone too far as this
But got to keep on trying looking for
What I lost may never find no more
Don't Say Goodbye
Was it only yesterday,
when I thought I just found my way
Now I feel so lost again,
tell me where can I go?
I thought I found the way to live here
I thought I found my home
But when I look around me
You're no where to be found
I need you by my side
I found you a long time ago
But now I found my home
You are no where in sight
How can I stay this way
Without you by my side
The moon was so bright last night
I thought I saw your face in it
The wind was blowing in the breeze
and the trees were dancing
when i look up to the sky
i know i wish i could fly
to where you were by my side
some time before not so long ago
when I thought I came home again
some time not so long ago
Was it only yesterday
when I thought I found my way
Now I feel so lost again
I need you by my side
You know the battle still goes on
and I got to leave you once again
the next time I see you
Please don’t say goodbye
the next time I see you
Please don’t say goodbye
cause i like to go thinking
you are still by my side
Please don't say goodbye
Let me go thinking
You're still by my side
Please don't say goodbye
Please don't say goodbye
