Open Letter to Alan Oei, Director of Sculpture Square

OPENING of Ghost: The Body at the Turn of the Century
24 November 2013, Sculpture Square

Thank You Alan Oei and Team at Sculpture Square. Many may look at it differently but i must say what i did not get a chance to say as i was not able to being in a durational where i don't normally like to do on occasions like these.Believe it or not I have been feeling most fortunate to be invited by you, under the jurisdiction of your directorship believe it or not for the first time by any gallery other than the Substation for the first time for your clever and most timely event/ exhibition.
There have been one or few other outings in festivals but the fact this is only one of the few invitations per se, speaks volume how 'poor' we are.
tomorrow is Singapore BienalLe opening. i almost made typo of calling it singapore BULL Nale but i am apprehensive yet would like to see it through as much as i can from my own humble end as this too is my for me an invitation i received with support i believe from the curators who understood somewhat the artists.
I know that there are always detractors out there even when things are at least more than before given a fighting chance that we have come to a point of making a difference.
My work tonight is not about the past but asking a question that shifted our world but remains unanswered.
I asked in all seriousness and if the ones who think and really turn away from me, or even embrace me and not wish to hear this question, then let m ask once again and i shall leave and enjoy my fortune of idiocy again like before i first hear it 20 years ago*:
it was josef Ng's question before he snuffed the cigarette out *
Perhaps a silent protest is not enough"
THAT haunted me for all these years....that was the ghost for me
But here i may have digress for yours is an important task of steering an location that must offer art and artists to present works that do mean something beyond the melodrama of restricted radicalism raked into no 3 nor 4 jokers of capital a, d empire> your selection dug into art be they seen as such or not, thank you Alan, thank you dear friends at Sculpture Square and fellow participants of 'GHOSTS'...

we gave you the scars and where we did hurt now yes nay to was then but somehow the wounds not healed and yet allowed to show and tell and there will be some who shall dismiss it, resist, even desist this new trajectory but if so it shall be most sadly a twist of what should be a fortunate turn in our history.
Ghosts must be queried, seances and expelled if not acknowledged and appeased via rituals else return haunting us as undeads neither alive nor at peace in death!!
